1.Take us through the journey of writing your book.

Answer:The journey of my writing is both interesting and sad. I am a literature graduate. I always liked reading but I used to get stunned on

how writers create their creation as I would never be able to do so. I guess destiny had other plans. Like everyone knows life is unpredictable. I lost my

mother in Feburary 2015. It was a huge shock for me. Then, in the same year a very good friend of mine broke friendship with me who was like a

pillar of strength during my mother’s illness. My mom’s untimely death and a broken friendship inspired me to pen my debut novel.

2.Tell us something about your book.

Answer:My book is a beautiful story of two friends, Ronkini and Sushant. The story starts with friendship and and also ends with friendship. So, it must arise a

question then what is the extra element in the story? The most exciting part of the story is the roller coaster journey of the two friends especially my female protagonist Ronkini of a long period

of 14 years. Their first meeting and their gradual depth in their friendship was interesting. Then, the sudden marriage news of Sushant and the realisation of Ronkini’s love for Sushant.

was the turning point in their story. So, to find out more about the turning point quickly grab your copy of “Some 14 Odd Years”.

3.It’s a saying that writers are another creators. Do you agree with it?

Answer:Yes, writers are another creators because they create a new world which is equally beautiful like this beautiful world. Writers not only create mere creations but also weave

different emotions in the heart and mind of the readers.

4.Your inspiration besides your family?

Answer:My inspiration beside my family is the beautiful world and people especially women. I am not a feminist but I believe that women’s life is still tough due to our social system.

So, women from different walks of life and their journey especially the way they have dealt with obstacles have always inspired me.

5.Tell us something about yourself.

Answer: About me?It is very difficult to say something about me. Still, I am a very simple, honest, down to earth kind of a person with plain living and high thinking. I am basically a freelance writer

by profession. I believe life is like a place which is vacuum, void and we humans fill this life with various emotions. And if we pen this emotion in writing then this life becomes larger than a mere fictious story.

6.By holding your own book is a special feelings always. For you, how was that feeling?

Answer:Yes,it was a beautiful feeling. I felt like at top of this world after holding my book. I felt my book was just like a new born baby, born out of me, my creation. A joy which can hardly be defined by words.

7.Who is your favorite author and what is your favorite book?

Answer:My favourite author is Charles Dickens. I like Charles Dickens’s “Christmas Carol”. Oliver Twist is equally good but I love “Christmas Carol” because of the storyline, morals and the values of life which thisnovel teaches. I also love to read short stories and my favourite short story writer is Somerset Maugham for his masterpiece, ” The Man with the scar” . I also like O Henry’s book ” The last leaf”.

  1. Share some memories (good and bad both) of your reader’s response.

Answer:Good memories are many but what I loved about one reader, a girl who not only enjoyed reading my novel but also found a new dimension to it. She discovered my story running high on the theme of

women empowerment apart from friendship and unconditional love.

One negative comment came from one reader again a woman was bit peculiar. She disliked my novel because there was no suspense element. I guess I have written a fiction on friendship, unconditional love

and women empowerment, not a detective novel. Anyway, that lady might have good sense of humour or no idea about romantic fiction.

  1. What are your other hobbies?

Answer:My hobbies are singing, dancing and cooking apart from writing. I consider cooking as a good rejuvinating therapy for me. One day, I would like to record a song and also write a book on cooking.

  1. What is your next plan of writing?

Answer: My next plan is to bring out an anthology.I have few group anthologies to my credit. But I would like to publish my solo anthology.I am working hard on composing 50 poems for my next project.

  1. Do you ever feel like writing is tough?

Answer:No, writing is not tough. But again at the same time it is not so easy.Writing comes to me very easily when my heart is at peace and my mind is tranquiled . But what happens is sometimes words fall short while

describing feelings like out of bound joy and painful tradegies. Emotions has no language but I think that’s the real challenge of a writer to weave the emotions on blank paper by ink and arise the feelings of the readers.

12.When did you first realize that language has some power to bind hearts?

Answer:ll journey starts with self realisation. I am highly impressed by Chetan Bhagat though I have not read any of his books. I was surpised to see how Chetan Sir’s “2 States” created a sensation among millions of young hearts. So’after seeing his phenomenon success i felt yes language has a power.

13.Which genre you prefer the most for writing?

Answer: I prefer writing verses or poetries as it is compact and gives significant message in a well knit few lines. I also find composition of poems very challenging especially the rhyming pattern.

14.What challenges did you face while writing and getting published ?

Answer: Challenges were many. Like for example I was not rejected by too many publishers. I was immediately selected by a traditional publisher but they asked me to wait for about a year. I waited for about a year.

Then, after one year they turned their offer from traditional to self publishing @ Rs10,000/- . I was heart broken. Then, I decided to self publish with some other publisher but there I had a loss of Rs30,000/- as my local publisher compelled me to cancel the agreement

by not editing my novel though editing was in the contract. I thought my novel will never publish. But, one fine day I saw ad of my publisher, Educreation Publishing giving offer to new authors to publish their novel only at Rs2999/- only. Then, I went ahead with my novel.

15.Few words for your lovely readers?

Answer:Dear readers, do read my debut novel, “Some 14 Odd Years”. My readers, please don’t have any doubt on a new author because a new author can be a better author only when you read her novel and inspire her to write her second. Only readers can make a new author

like me successful and veteran too.
