1.Take us through the journey of writing your book.
Answer: I started writing poems when I was in class 1. Subsequently, my poems were published in school and college magazines. My write ups and poetry were also put up in the notice boards of the school and colleges I went to. I started writing articles and short stories, soon after and started writing for the column, THR PATIENT I CAN NEVER FORGET, in the highly esteemed magazine, THE WOMEN’S ERA. I also wrote in a siteWriting.com Most of the time I would pen down my thoughts in a diary. Soon I realized, I needed to share my work with the public. So I started making preparations for the publishing of my first book, FLIGHTS OF FANTASY, which is a collection of short stories. My second book, LOOKING THROUGH THE PRISM, followed close in heels. This is a collection of motivational poetry based on nature, relevant and current topics, students, love, etc. I have also co authored 6 more books which are in the process of publication. My e book JAMBOREE JUBILATION is available in amazon kindle. Here I have co authored poems with other authors. I have written about, Vijaya Dashami. It is a book on various Indian festivals
2.Tell us something about your book.
Answer: My book LOOKING THROUGH THE PRISM, is a collection of 17 motivational poetry which embraces optimism. The reading of this book will take you to a journey of hills, mountains, valleys, seas, oceans, rivers, lakes, it will teach you to admire a rainbow and you will find yourself in the lap of nature. When you are in a quiet mood, with a cup of coffee in hand, relaxing in your armchair in the twilight, Looking through the Prism is just the right kind of book you need for company. There are poems for the students, who deal with the burden of their subjects and syllabus, what actually are their feelings, when they study for examinations. The is a poem on fairies for children. There is also a poem which says that God will always deal with the people who are busy in bloodshed and terrorism. Everyone loves freedom, when specially, we compare ourselves like the birds. No bird is happy in a cage and neither are humans happy in bondage. People want to break free from the chains that bind them and they want to fly like a bird.
3.It’s a saying that writers are another creators. Do you agree with it?
Answer: Yes, the writers create a world which is very similar to the God’s creations. Amazing words describe the emotions just like the colors of nature, describes its beauty.
4.Your inspiration besides your family?
Answer: The environment, nature, and the relationships are my inspiration . The current topics play an important part in the content of my poetry and stories.
5.Tell us something about yourself.
Answer: I am a physician by profession and an author by passion. I have done my post Graduation in Anesthesiology from TMH, Mumbai and passed Journalism from the Delhi School Of Journalism. I have won many awards for my contribution in English Literature. I have won the Shonghoti Sammanana Award as an eminent poet awarded by the Evening daily HELLO KOLKATA. THE NATIONAL BOOK HONOR AWARDS has bestowed upon me the title of winner and awarded me a certificate and a medal for my book LOOKING THROUGH THE PRISM. I have been honored by the INDIAN AWAZ TEAM a memento and a certificate for the Top 100 Inspiring Authors of India.I hsve also co authored 6 more books which are in the process of publication out of which JAMBOREE JUBILATION has been published as an Amazon kindle version. My first book FLIGHTS OF FANTASY received great appreciation from the readers.
6.By holding your own book is a special feelings always. For you, how was that feeling?
Answer: There is a 7D ride called SOARING which in the Disney land. When you are in the seat, you can almost feel you are flying in the air over the waves in the ocean, over hills and mountains and feel the drops of water sprinkling over you. When I first held my book, my heart was soaring exactly like that and I could imagine that it was a small baby I was holding close to my heart.
7.Who is your favorite author and what is your favorite book?
Answer: My favorite author is Erich Sehgal and favorite book is DOCTORS.
8.Share some memories (good and bad both) of your reader’s response.
Answer: During the Delhi International Book Fair and Chennai Book Fair, I met many readers who appreciated my book. But one reader was exceptional in the Chennai Book Fair. He bought 2 copies of my book LOOKING THROUGH THE PRISM and donated the second book to any reader who loved poetry. The reader was overwhelmed to get s free copy of the book.
During the book fairs, one readers came and picked up my book and started reading it. He finished the entire book within half an hour. Then he placed the book back on the shelf and said, “Actually I don’t read much poetry, so I am not taking the book. I am interested in novels and short stories.” Of course, why would he spend the money when he finished the entire book in half an hour. It hurt me to hear what he said.
9.What are your other hobbies?
Answer: Music, Sports (Badminton and Table Tennis), Travelling.
10.What is your next plan of writing?
Answer: I am writing my next book. I do not want to reveal now. Let the suspense be.
11.Do you ever feel like writing is tough?
Answer: Writing is tough when you are emotionally not stable. Otherwise, the thoughts just pour in.
12.When did you first realize that language has some power to bind hearts?
Answer: When I read the reviews of my readers, I feel that Language does play a role to bind hearts. The emotion with which I write the poems, seems to percolate through the reviews of the readers.
13. Which genre you prefer the most for writing?
Answer: I mostly write poems with motivational messages.
14.What challenges did you face while writing and getting published ?
Answer: I am not so tech savvy. So the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was the manuscript preparation and sending them via the computer. Autocorrect was a big dilemma for me.
